Here comes the bride

Happy Sunday everyone! I’m currently resting after a long morning at church (ringing handbells at three services – yikes), catching up on the Olympic women’s marathon and the men’s tennis final. Loving the London sights along the marathon course!

Why do I need to rest, you ask? Because I was too busy celebrating Tyler and Sadie’s wedding last night!

Ready to say their “I do’s”

The ceremony was held at our church, Christ Church United Methodist, in the beautiful new sanctuary (Tyler and I grew up in the old sanctuary, so it’s always a treat to see the new one!) I mentioned yesterday, but Tyler and I have known each other since elementary school. We have gone to church together for fifteen years! And yes, he was my sixth grade boyfriend. We were band nerds together.

I don’t talk about it a lot, but I am SO.BLESSED to have the church family that I grew up with – many of the guys and gals who I met at CCUM are still some of my best friends. (Remember Taylor, who I galavanted about Europe with? And Claire, whose birthday we celebrated at Steeplechase? Both CCUMers. And both two of my best friends.) It was a true testament to how much I love Tyler (and several of his groomsmen!) that I skipped seeing the Hunger Games at midnight to hang out with them when they unexpectedly stopped through Nashville in March.

Me and the dapper groomsmen! Nick, me, Matt, Reese

Tyler and Sadie were high school sweethearts, and seemed so happy and relaxed throughout the night. It was a small, intimate wedding, filled with mainly family – the ceremony was beautiful! I love when the couple seems at ease (they even cracked up at the altar when Tyler couldn’t get the ring on), and I love that they had us all take communion. Such a testament to their faith.

After the wedding, we headed to the ceremony – I was excited to hang out with everyone! Since we’re all scattered across the country now, our visits are much too few and far between.

Nick, me, and Aruna (one of my high school friends/a bridesmaid)

We ate, we laughed, we talked, we drank – some people did karaoke. I spectated. All in all, it was such a great night. A beautiful celebration of their love. Congratulations Sadie and Tyler! I couldn’t be more thrilled for y’all.
