Go-go-go

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you have been go-go-going with no time to breathe? Yesterday was one of those days for me! I woke up bright and early, ate breakfast while haphazardly trying to put on my makeup with coffee in one hand, and headed off to watch Vandy’s graduation.

Since I knew there wouldn’t be much time for exercise, and since I knew that parking would be a pain-in-the-butt (Vandy notoriously has minimal parking – on graduation weekend it has almost no parking) I decided to walk the mile and a half from my apartment to Vandy. It was a beautiful morning – sunny, 60, not a cloud in the sky. The perfect morning for a brisk walk, in a dress and sandals!

It was the perfect morning that we should have had last year. But of course it rained. Oh well, that’s fitting for the class that Vanderbilt notoriously forgot/left out/left behind. #classof2011

After sitting through most of the outdoor ceremony (I wore sunscreen – look how smart I’m getting in my old age!) we ventured over to Bread and Company to grab lunch before braving the post-graduation crowds. Lesson learned from the last two years: going from 7am until 3pm without eating is really not fun.

First stop? Strawberries and champagne! Yes, Vanderbilt provides these for everyone post-graduation. It’s the least they can do after stealing gratefully accepting all of your your parents’ money for four years! And since I was too busy trying to take pictures/corral family members/find my friends to partake last year, I made it my  priority this year.

Well, it was my priority after finding these two anyway.

My little sister in AOII, Sam, and her boyfriend, Brion

I still cannot believe that they graduated. Now I feel officially old! After a brief stop at the AOII house to see some other grads, Chelsea dropped me off back at home for a real workout – weights and a little stationary bike. I love to do a quick weight workout while catching up on my TV shows – multitasking!

Then it was off to the shower to get ready for dinner with some of my favorite people, the Pence ladies. They were stopping through after moving MC out of her freshman Ole Miss dorm, and were nice enough to treat me to a Bricktops dinner, complete with the legendary Chocolate Chip (a giant cookie served in little skillet, topped with caramel and vanilla ice cream. yum.)

Today is going to be another go-go-go day. We’re off to Steeplechase to celebrate Claire‘s 23rd birthday in style. It’s going to be a day of eating, drinking, and maybe a little dancing. And probably no exercise. Unless we’re counting walking-to-the-tailgate-site-from-the-car as exercise. Or dancing. But let’s be honest – dancing always counts in my book!

  1. Those go-go-go days are the craziest and I’ve had a bunch this week too. That’s great that you were able to fit in a bit of exercise in there – in heels and a dress no less! Congrats to your sister!!
